Wakeboarding from Us for You

We use state-of-the-art wakeboards, with the wakeboarder towed on a rope behind the boat at approximately 30 kilometres per hour. A professional boat Tige & ATX is a great advantage for riders. A perfectly shaped bottom of the boat and all internal elements create a wave with the most suitable parameters, dimensions and shape, to let the rider use it as a springboard, try tricks, rotations, somersaults and other areal manoeuvres.

Success of the wakeboarding also depends on the state of the water surface, the size of the wakeboard, the experience and the weight of the wakeboarder. Motorboats Tige & ATX are specially made for towing. If the ordinary motorboats have the sufficient power for towing, they can also be used in wakeboarding. And still in this case the rider will lose the possibility to use and enjoy all the capacity of the waves.

History of Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding appeared around 1985 in an attempt to expand classic surfing. First, the surfer had to be towed along the shore by a boat or a car to surf. At that time, the boards also were shortened. In 1985 Tony Finn, a surfer from San Diego, developed the “skurfel”, which was something between water skis and a surfboard.

The First Steps of Wakeboarding

The skurfel looked like a small surfboard towed behind the ship where the rider performed his skills. His performance resembled something between snowboarding and skateboarding combined with water skiing. The rider could stand on the surface of the board without any binding.

In the summer of 1985, two brothers Mike and Mark Pascoe installed a pair of foot holders to Tony’s skurfel. It became the first step in the further development of wakeboarding. In 1990 the first skurfel championship took place. The nationwide American sports station ESPN broadcasted it.

A New Era of Wakeboarding

In 1990 Jimmy Redmon founded the World Wakeboard Association (WWA). He is considered to be the “guru” of this water sport. The greatest growth of wakeboard was noted in 1996, when it began to spread constantly thanks to the broadcasts of the already mentioned TV station and sports games X-GAMES. Wakeboarding has become known to millions of people around the world. Come to us and join the global team of wakeboarders!
